The 2-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher course is for those who have already passed the full 5-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course within the last five years and can provide proof of attendance.

The SMSTS Refresher course aims to bring the delegate's health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The SMSTS Refresher course includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous 5-day SMSTS course programme, as well as introducing new subjects.

The main objectives of the SMSTS Refresher course are to improve awareness of recent developments in construction, legislation, health, safety, welfare and environmental health and safety issues; as well as being able to identify measures that will assist the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and new working practices.

Frequently Asked Questions

At the conclusion of the SMSTS Refresher course, delegates are required to undertake a short multiple choice assessment.

Those who successfully complete the assessment are awarded the ConstructionSkills Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher Certificate.

Each delegate will be issued with SMSTS textbooks to take away and keep, which will assist them both during and after the course and will contain information, guidance and forms to assist managers. The course is designed to be interactive, allowing delegates the opportunity to develop their skills with the support of the course tutor.

CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course

This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site. It aims to provide a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental health and safety issues.

The course also allows delegates to identify their individual responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, what the employer's duties are and what should be done if they think anyone's health and safety is being put at risk.
